My artist theme ~ Light, Time & Facades. Here the catholic church, known as Our Lady of Good Counsel, is still undergoing major restoration repairs after Cyclone Larry’s destructive visit in the early morning hours of March 20, 2006.
A very special occasion since the aftermath, as this was the first time that the historical Gothic architecture style church, located on the corner of Rankin Street & Grace Streets, Innisfail, Far North Queensland, Australia, had all its lights switched on during the night time and it was beautifully aglow.
Special clear glass has been put in the arched windows but over half of them still await design/manufacture resolution for new stained glass decoration features.
One of the horrific damages to the church, caused by Cyclone Larry, was when the huge concrete cross that was on top of the roof at the far left end, smashed through the roof and crashed down on top of the marble alter and surrounds.
Above the towers, do you notice the angelic floating shape?
