Spikelets of flowers growing on the Dwarf Papyrus, Miniature Flatsedge (Cyperus prolifer). The plant is ornamental, aquatic, clump-forming, evergreen, bladeless and slender, with stems topped with spherical, grassy heads or plume of grassy filaments where the spikelets of flowers appear. Best viewed large

+ A spikelet is a small or secondary spike, characteristic of grasses and sedges, having a varying number of reduced flowers each subtended by one or two scalelike bracts.
(In botany ~ is the unit of a grass inflorescence, typically consisting of two bracts (glumes) surrounding one or more florets, each of which is itself surrounded by two bracts.)

A prime lens was used for focus intent and bokeh effect.
Location – Home garden, near Innisfail, Tropical Far North Queensland, Australia.
