Miniature Deep Red Anthurium Flower by

A beautiful and vibrant miniature heart-shaped deep red Anthurium flower.
Plant grown in my tropical home backyard, near Innisfail, Far North Queensland, AU.
Photo was taken using my first ever purchased Pentax prime lens (late 1970’s).

The Anthurium is a flowering plant of the arum family, Araceae.
“The inflorescence bears small flowers which are perfect, containing male and female structures. The flowers are contained in dense spirals on the spadix… The spadix is elongated into a spike shape… Beneath the spadix is the spathe, a type of bract.” ~ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthurium#Species

My “creative art practice” may be be succinctly summed up in the following fantastic metaphorical quote by Kandinsky:
~ “Colour is the keyboard, the eyes are the harmonies, the soul is the piano with many strings. The artist is the hand that plays, touching one key then another to cause vibration of the soul.”

Than would look great on a canvas. I like how all the background leaves lead into it

  • Thanks very much Richard. Yes, was really pleased with how well the background leaves worked in this.
