Background: I had been working individually on art compositions relative to my passion to interpret music, rhythm, movement and energy through the use of formal visual art elements ie. line, colour, tone, shape, texture and art media.

To symbolize the interpretation of any music requires one’s senses to hear and feel, absorb sound and energies, to internalize and contemplate, as apposed to recording information seen/perceived through the eyes from the physical ‘outer’ world. One has to create and interpret a visionary abstract, from a pure transitional and spiritual sensual state, from one’s own internal environment, the knowledge, understanding and experience one brings to canvas for the moments of manifestation.

I jumped at the chance when this exhibition theme came up. Also I am much inspired by Kandinsky and his work, a long time favourite art philosopher and mentor.

My “creative art practice” may be be succinctly summed up in the following fantastic metaphorical quote by Kandinsky:
~ “Colour is the keyboard, the eyes are the harmonies, the soul is the piano with many strings. The artist is the hand that plays, touching one key then another to cause vibration of the soul.”

That is really sweet looking Kerryn I love your colors awesome work.

  • Thanks for visiting Craig. Listen to the wonderful range of violin music in Vivaldi’s four seasons and try following my mark-making at the same time. I listened for over three weeks to the music before the zen moment of the black ink markmaking, all done with one dagger liner brush only. Cheers.

Wow – so vibrant! Great use of colour!

  • Hi Carole. Thanks for your comments. 3 days and 3 nights ongoing is how long this work took to create, not counting the psychic/mental lead-up as explained in my description.
