Dwindling resources on the surface require rethinking the strategies of life, looking for other approaches, perhaps buried deep inside.
Perhaps you’ll see it as a statement about the planet, perhaps you’ll see it as a personal quest. Perhaps there are other interpretation.

Yes, one of the things I like the most of this image is that can be seen both as a planet alegory and as a personal metaphor. Most of us are continuosly looking around, but do we actually see?

Pnina! This is excellent work! I love the concept of seeing the cut-away.

Something definitely needs to be done about the way we as humans interact with our planet. Unfortunately, it seems that virtually everything is about money and power, power and money. The people that can really make the difference won’t unless it is a popular thing to do – and losing power and money is NOT popular, pretty, or even something that most people would consider.

But when we have hundreds of millions of people starving to death in this world, and perhaps dozens of people holding three quarters of the accumulated wealth on the planet, and companies that are not satisfied with millions of dollars (US specific – is the same concept everywhere) and instead must have hundreds of billions each quarter – well, there really isn’t much we can do. :(

The mother will protect herself. The cut away allows us to see her there just beneath the surface. When we no longer can she will drink from her stores and regenerate. If we are wise, she may allow us to suckle. If we are not, the winds will carry us away. Then shaking off the every remnant of us, she will come forth again. Whether this is a vision of the planet that we have so carelessly placed in peril or a methaphor for your own struggles. This is another genius piece of art.
