Grass beneath my shoes, vibrant and healthy
Feels like it’s always moist and cut daily, fully alive

Ants, earwigs, crickets hide behind blades of grass
Find safety and seclusion under the fallen leaves of trees
That haven’t found time to die while surrounded by life

The lives of all the birds and squirrels above
Seem endless and small, unimportant yet somehow vital

A sunlit breeze carries flower petals
From all of the daisies that grow here
Adding liveliness and health to this peaceful place

The calmness and beauty here is only spoiled
By the cries of a widow at her beloved’s grave

A poem written at the very location of the poem, the most peaceful places can be in unexpected locations.

Born in Northern California, I’ve made and studied art most of my life and my favorite things to make are from darker tones and subjects. Since I was very young I’ve pushed myself through requests, so feel free to ask me for a personal work.

wow really great work Anthony! I didnt expect the ending, adds a sort of bittersweet element. I love that juxtaposition between life and death that you create, awesome work man!!

  • Thanks so much!! This was written at a cemetery that I liked to sit at and draw or write because it was so peaceful and quiet, I’d always be amazed at how much life and peace could be found there. Thanks again!
