As many artists do, I began taking photographs as reference for my paintings. But after a while the photographs also became the art: another way of expressing myself. Another passion!
SKYCLAD IN NATURE
As I sat by a campfire I heard a wolf howling, close enough to know that I was within its territory, it was one of a pack but if I was to portray a wolf in one of my paintings it would be that one, I know that wolf, by hearing it in the wild I am connected to it. My paintings and photographs of the nude in nature depict this connection, this freedom. When I go to the wild and lonely places and walk naked I feel a spiritual connection to nature. The images are based on reality, my own experiences in my homeland of England and when I lived in the Rocky Mountain Country in America.
