Sculpted casually for 10 years before venturing off to Uni for a BA-Fine Art (Sculpture). Pre-uni creations were quite traditional (mainly from life) and while I still love that, I put it away (for better or worse) to immerse myself in ‘formal’ & ‘conceptual’ learning- the motivation being that I provide space to experience/learn anew without falling back into comfort zone. Now the task is (still- 5+years after grad!) to combine/blend that first ‘era’ with new stuff.
When I locate my sculpture ‘documentation’ I’ll upload a few more examples. Am currently in renovation mode so precious things are packed away.
In essence, I love artworks which speak simply and poetically about the human condition, and embrace our frailties.
While sculpture is highest on my radar, I adore 2D works (by others that is – I’m a hopeless case there, unless it’s an occasional photograph!) and often wish I too could work well with 2D.
I particularly appreciate the dreamlike quality often present in watercolour.
It amazes me what people can do with oils.
A few perfect words can reveal and add a hundred layers. And a photograph well executed is a joy to the senses.
But what I appreciate mostly are those who continue to create and create and create -often against the odds.
I’m so thankful for you and your dedication.
