YOU are there . . .

You just recited the last three words of the blessing
and now . . .
SEE all the light you have brought to the world!
The candle flames, the sunset, the Sabbath Bride, the mitzvah . . .

A moment ago you whole world was dark
as your hands both covered your eyes.
Now the glistening reflection of this new light is seen
On the palms of your very own hands.

The right hand (chesed-kindness) is closed
as it draws in the Light of Shabbos.
The left hand (gevurah-strength) os opened
as it weakens by the the Light of Kindness.

And the troubles of the whole world . . . and the whole week . . .

slip . . . away . . .

and now . . .

And Now . . .
GOOD SHABBOS!

Light of Shabbos

I wrote this poem to go with the painting by the same name.
