Make it Over- C 2-89, By Dennis L. Knecht

Some people strive to make it to the top—
But, I strive to make it over….
Those people who get there always stop—
But, I want to make it over….
When they get there, they push everybody else down—
But, I want to make it over….
Mr. ‘King of the Hill’ – What’ll you do
When no-one follows your orders?
Mr. Realtor- I say- what’ll you do
When the land has no more borders?
What would you do if we played my way—
And carried everyone above you?
What would you do if we all flew away?
You couldn’t cheat, then- could you?
When you play “One for them and nine for me”—
You just couldn’t stand it, could you?
If your crooked blue-book was thrown away—
And the Bible was the only book you could play—
Could you follow the rules, then- and would you?
If the cards were shuffled and dealt evenly—
Would you raise the stakes, then- well, would you?
If the next time YOU dealt- no-one else would play-
Could you beat them your way, then- well, could you?
I don’t want to make it to the top- But, I strive to make it OVER—
Cause when I get there, we’ll play by my rules—
And when we do- your game will be over !
