D&C Sidewheel Steamer, City of Detroit III by

The Wright Brothers had just succeeded in manned flight, as represented above this ship. The City of Detroit III was the largest Sidewheel Steamer in the World, owned by the Detroit and Cleveland Navigation Company, Lake Erie Division. My great grandfather was a ships steward on this steamer, in charge of food service for passengers and crew. When this original print was no longer wanted by his employers, he proudly brought it home for display.

The huge original color lithograph on tin was badly in need of restoration, but with a very limited budget I sold it as is, after taking a high resolution photograph of it. I then did a digital restoration, repairing scratches, rust spots, water damage, fading, and discoloration from smoke, etc. resulting in this highly collectable print.
