This is beautiful…such wonderful amazing Art…looking at it is like stepping into another dimension…

  • Yet another beautiful young lady who likes steam trains, thanks Ellanita. This is at one of my favourite locations on the River Dart to watch the trains years ago when I lived a few miles away at Brixham.

Great work Mike, I have a number of original railway scene oils – just wish I could afford more, but I like to eat :)

    G’day Mike!
This is a magnificent picture and an instant favourite! Thirlmere, where I live in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, houses the NSW Rail Museum. Within it are old steam trains, many built in England, and a history of steam and diesel transport from the 1800s until steam was phased out in the 1960s. I have traveled on many a steam train in my younger days, sticking my head out the window and getting soot in my eyes – and for many years my Dad worked as a Fettler on the NSW rail system.
I have many photos of those trains, some of which have found their way into my gallery – while others queue up in my holding yard. The museum has become very popular after a recent multi-million $ upgrade. There are weekend train rides, but they only go a short distance along an old spur line.

Once again, mightily impressed by this masterpiece! :)george

  • Many thanks George and G’day to your good self as well mate, you are a man after my own heart and how I envy you your very own museum and wish you all sucess with it. It amazes me that so many of the younger genereration who never experienced the steam railway in its heyday nonetheless are interested in steam. We of course who remember the steam locomotive in its working enviroment are lucky indeed and when I look back to my brief railway career I feel truly priveleged to have experienced my days on the footplate.

It is pretty unlikely that I’ll ever visit Oz but if I do I’d love to meet you and shovel a few around the box.

Do you have a web-site for the museum so I can view the hardware.
