THIS PAINTING IS SOLD BUT YOU TOO CAN COMMISSION MIKE TO PAINT YOUR VERY OWN ORIGINAL OF YOUR FAVOURITE VEHICLE, A SOUND INVESTMENT FROM WHOM MANY REGARD AS BRITAIN’S LEADING TRANSPORT ARTIST. JUST E-MAIL mika@transportartist.co.uk
On a bitter winter’s day a heavy snowfall has brought traffic to a standstill on what passed for a major trunk road in pre-motorway Britain. Here the driver of a Scammell eightwheeler of British Road Services fights for traction on the icy surface while a fellow driver is on hand with a shovel.
A painting like this of your favourite vehicle, British or American, in oils on canvas or board would cost about £2000..

wonderful colour, Mike…love that feeling of snow and blue and cold. You are a master at this!
Mike, Your work is a force yet to be reckoned with, and as far as i can tell, is unique to this site, you just cant beat a Those Were The Days theme!
Beautiful work, I can feel the cold!
Amazing work Mike . x
Great painting Mike. Next thing he will have is the diesel frozen up. Remember that? I used to put in a gallon of petrol for every 40 or so gallons of diesel to help stop it freezing. And the piece of cardboard over half the radiator, you certainly know how to portray how it was then Mike. – Ted
Thanks Ted, I do indeed remember those days, a lot of this is from memory.

I just love this Mike .. it has the atmosphere of the weather way back when it was expected and we coped. When I was a kid Scammels where a magic name. They had that something that said power. These lorrys and tractors where the heros of the road.. the army used them to pull tanks.. love this pic! Can’t afford it .. just have to favourite it instead!
Thanks my friend I love Scammells too but I’ve never got to drive one, I can’t produce a print of this because the image is too poor and the original was sold about 15 years ago to another Scammell fan!

Without doubt a fabulous piece of work…You could almost be there. I would say these trucks would have easily been the juggernauts of their day.
