Reffells Brewery of Bexley in Kent were one of ERF’s first customers in 1933 and bought two four-wheelers to be used as brewery drays for local deliveries and they gave good service for many years well into the post-war era. Here one of them leaves the recently rebuilt Woodman pub, Blackfen in 1934 having just made a delivery for the thirsty inhabitants of this Kentish suburb.
Today Reffells beer is but a memory, ERF are no more but the Woodman still survives very much in the form shown here.
This painting on a 20”x30” canvas was painted for my great friend and historian Alan Bedford in whose living room it hangs.
