THIS PAINTING IN OILS ON A 18″×24″ CANVAS IS FOR SALE AT £1,000. E_MAILmike@transportartist.co.uk FOR DETAILS.
When Great Britain was the workshop of the World a lot of that work was produced in the area roughly between Birmingham and Wolverhampton known as the Black Country and that is where we see this Bristol eight-wheeler of British Road Services loaded with steel bar. The Bristol was especially developed and built for the Nationalised BRS and not available on the open market but usually powered by Leyland’s 9.8 litre diesel mated to a five-speed overdrive gearbox and carried quite a variety of different cabs during its production.

Very nice as usual Mike. I don’t remember many HGV Bristols only the buses.
Thanks Hertsman, yes it was the same firm of course. Back in the early seventies I owned a Bristol L, a LLW6B ex-Thames Valley, but loss of my parking space meant it had to go it was FMO 9— and I often wonder if it’s still around.

Was this the one?
534 (FMO 9) c/n 73059, built 1949. ECW B35R body. Sold to United Welsh as No.534 in 1960. With Sir Lindsay Parkinson & Co, London (contractor) as staff bus in Southend area 1986.
Not quite, but its sister, was sold to Western Welsh but I bought it from a coach firm in Poole, Dorset. It had been converted to OMO with a front entrance.
