THIS PAINTING IN OILS ON A 20″×30″ CANVAS IS FOR SALE AT £999. E_MAILmike@transportartist.co.uk FOR DETAILS.
The post-war Leyland Octopus cab was treated to a face-lift in the early fifties with the introduction of the “mouth-organ” cab built on similar lines to its predecesor but with subtle differences and the more obvious slatted radiator grille. This example of Tower Hill Transport is just pulling away from the kerbside after the driver has finished telephoning his base for instructions for his next load just in time for the approaching bus to pick up its waiting passengers. No mobile phones, tachos or sat navs in those days in a time when despite its hardships a life on the road as a lorry driver was still a pleasure.

Wow…look at that detail!! I so enjoy viewing each of your works because it brings me back to a simpler time in my life. You work in oil right?
Thank you Blended, it heartens me that my efforts touch a nerve. Yes, oils sometimes over an acrylic underpainting.

Just love it. Your paint on the truck is softened by oxidation (and grime). Hard to imagine how you capture this quality so well. Your sky is beautifully painted, also. Wonderful detail, Mike.
Thanks F.A. that’s the way I remember these old girls.
