Some say that the Leyland Marathon, developed on a shoestring budget to compete with rising foreign imports, should have been badged as an AEC. It did after all have an AEC engine and was originally developed and built at Southall until 1979.

This later Mk II of Milners Metals, a Cummins- engined example of 1981 is seen at work in the tough environment of a typical scrapyard of the time.

Excellent Mike. Good atmospheric painting. – Ted

  • Blimey Ted you’re quick off the mark, but thanks mate. I was in the scrap trade for a year or two in my youth.

Gawd – who would have thunk a truck could ever be beautiful. Good stuff here!

  • Thank you Jan, trucks are things of beauty but railway locomotives are works of art!
