The Burlingham Seagull luxury coach body was fitted to many chassis and this A.E.C. carries it well with even the rather garish Yelloways livery managing to look dignified. The later Seagull bodies were rather spoilt by heavy treatment at the front because of a front entrance, the earlier central door version looking better balanced.

There is some good design in buses today, but a lot more run of the mill boring rubbish.
Every time I see a bus from this era or even a picture of it I get a big smile on my face…

These are awesome! I never would’ve thought about being attracted to a painting of a bus necessarily, but I am to yours. The backgrounds and details are also fantastic. Excellent work!

  • Well I must be doing something right if I can convert you into a bus fan, sincerely Cindy thank you very much for your kind comment and I see you like old steam engines too—————-

I have a 1:43 Leyland Seagull by Corgi. Why can’t modern coachbuilders and car manufacturers put some of the same character in their work? They’re all FACELESS BOXES today, like the faceless corporations who make them.

Great work Mike. Really takes you back. Fine artwork whether you like automotive art or not. Love the clouds – your skills are the envy of many a budding artist.
