The distinctive bulk tankers carrying the dignified livery of Tate & Lyle could be seen on all the main trunk roads of Britain. Granulated sugar was heavy for its bulk so a short wheelbase eight- wheeler chassis sufficed for the gross maximum weight of 24 tons.

  • Yes they were lovely vehicles, it’s a pity none seem to have survived but I do know of at least two Albion Sugar tankers that have.
