THIS PAINTING IN OILS ON A 20″×30″ CANVAS BOARD IS FOR SALE AT £750. E-MAILmike@transportartist.co.uk FOR DETAILS.

When Guy introduced their new range of goods vehicles at the 1958 Commercial Show the restyled cab caused quite a stir with its curved windscreen and full specification, here was the cab of the future and any driver who turned up in one in late 1958 or early 1959 soon found his lorry surrounded by a crowd of admirers.

This Warrior tractor unit operated at 22tons gross weight and was powered by an AEC AV470 engine with a Eaton two -speed axle and is coupled to a four-in-line semi trailer and in the attractive livery of Tate and Lyle.

A painting like this of your favourite vehicle, British or American, in oils on canvas or board would cost about £1500.

Very atmospheric painting Mike. Was this the Tate and Lyle factory at Silvertown?

  • Yes,Ted, I believe they had their place in Silvertown but I learned that AFTER I did this painting so it could be anywhere.
