When Jaguar cars introduced their XK120 range of sports cars in 1948 the effect was electric, all previous cars immediately looked very dated and it set new standards for the industry. It performed even better than it looked thanks to it’s brilliant ohc engine and superb, for its day, road-holding.
It was also relatively inexpensive costing under a £1000 new when most comparable cars were three or even four times as much, truly one of the all time classics but at one time in the 1960s one could be picked up for a few hundred pounds. The XK140 was its updated replacement in1954.

Hey Mike, LONG COMMENT…….but when I saw this I HAD to comment……..I use to have this car!!! A white rag top with red leather interior……..It had an English airplane engine (12 cylinders). Had overdrive and would cruise at 110 mph!! Unbelievable car……..loved it!! It took every penny I had to keep it up…that was in 1965.Horrible when I had to sell it in ’67….If I had it now, it would be worth a small fortune…..but will NEVER forget it!! What a thrill!! Your painting really is great……….sure brings back the memories!! THanks!!
Hi Linda, What on earth did you have under that bonnet, the XK120 was fash enough with the Jag engine, the brakes were good but not THAT good! You’re lucky to be alive do you still live as dangerously.

My father owned an XK150, which I helped him restore years ago. Sad to see it sold later on. These were a great breed of car. Awesome work.
