To someone new to redbubble it appears to be a soft porn site, for many months now all that appears on the home page are images of young women in various states of undress and/or in provacative poses. While I appreciate the beauty of the female form as much as the next man it really isn’t the ONLY form of beauty. I, and I’m sure many more visitors to redbubble, would perhaps like to see what the rest of the artists on redbubble are up to in their artistic pursuits.
Do I have to post a photo of my current mistress perhaps to make the front page and point potential buyers to the rest of my work, because if indeed that is what it takes I might just have to do it.
The point is that most of the images of desirable young ladies can be seen ad naseum in any porn magazine available from your local newsagent and I would like to suggest that most of us are getting a little tired of photos that far from being artistic are actually rather crass and far too commonplace to be called Art let alone command a prime position on the redbubble home page.
May I suggest that those who choose these images look upwards, open their minds to higher things and try to ignore what is going on below their belts.

With all due respect, I am not sure what homepages you are viewing….but your assessment doesn’t jive with ones I have viewed. I have found the homepage to be much more diverse than what you have described. However, all the homepages are on display here! so one can judge the diversity [or lack thereof] for oneself, I suppose.
As for the process of how one’s work is chosen….anyone can put together a lay-out of homepage suggestions here! The lay-outs should not include one’s own art and should follow certain criteria outlined on page one of the forum.
I have had many, many of my suggested lay-outs appear on the homepage and for the record, none of them included women in any stage of undress.

You may be referring to the work by new artists page. I agree with you that many of the images are in bad taste and often to do not have a safety filter. I am not opposed to nudity if tastefully done but nudity that is done to arouse is not appropriate. I have been on Redbubble almost from the beginning. There have been many debates over the porn content and some rules were applied a couple of years ago that helped the situation. Still, some like to sail close to the shore and use shock value to attract people to their art.

I no longer even notice the home page, its features are purely subjective to whoever chooses them and thus of little interest to me. Maybe it would be best to randomise this selection from recent group features, that way it would bound to be as diverse as the groups themselves. Another suggestion would be to have guest members selecting the features – maybe you, Mike, could start – I’d certainly look then.

To be honest I haven’t seen any nudes on the redbubble homepage well not recently anyway .
I did a homepage from work in my groups which where all landscapes in Britain so I doubt you could call those offensive . They appeared yesterday .
A lot of the homepage features are chosen by group hosts now , they used to be by redbubble staff at one time .

I haven’t noticed any nudes on the front page but I do think the quality of a lot of the Images that do appear are are not so tasteful as they might be. A lot of them showing skulls and weird creatures, etc. I personally have stopped directing people to the front page as so many of my potential customers have been turned off by the art found there and look no further. This has been the reaction when asked, “Did you look at Red Bubble site?” “Not my sort of art, so I only looked the front page.” I now direct them straight to my own Bubblesite by giving them a card.
With so many excellent Images to be found in the vast achives of RB, I am surprised most days at the quality (not) of the art on the front page. – Ted

This is not porn – soft or otherwise, these artists produce stunning art based on the nude form.
I could go on and on.
There is no porn on RedBubble – there are just artists at various stages of their artistic development. Some work is great, some not so great. But it aint porn, and it certainly isn’t Hustler.

In 3+ years on RB, I’ve only made the home page once with this landscape shot and I’m sure there are lots of people out there still waiting patiently for their moment of fame.
For the record, it might get you a few more views, comments & favourites, but if you’re expecting instant worldwide acclaim, dream on!
Best regards, Howard
