Beyond the call
There is someone with a team
Without a thought except to get there
There will be a rescuing you or me
Or someone we know
Its possible we may never know their name

Facing the sometimes almost impossible
Geared up for anything
is the team with firefighter’s courage
They don’t arrive with pride and a point system
Only a willingness to serve

It may not be an easy task
Entering the unknown
Only a description in brief
Are the men and women prepared to assist
But in Rainbow City and throughout our land
You can depend on the ones in command

For saving our lives and working through
The firefighters I dedicate this image to you
To the great firefighter’s courage

You may be the team member on the phone
Who is in the office late – sometimes on your own
Just remember that you’re never alone
We care about you too, You helped save our home

We will be safer and less afraid
‘Cause we know you are real close
Some folks can’t imagine
If they had to take these calls

So glad you stand in the gap
You helped to save my neighbor
And helped us lay to rest one,
The one that was too late to be saved
The call, came in , and you came out
But you will never get enough pay
For all of your bravery

With gratefulness of heart
Let me be the first to start
A single thank you
To all of you who walk bravely
When you are in the dark

Walking in a fog of heat, crackling and fire
Lies a person, situation, and animal
That would not be saved
Were it not for the brave
You are what a firefighter should be
Someone to protect and watch over me
