sexy--my favorite
I like to use harsh lighting in this shot. In a way it throws the viewer off balance. The confusion or contrast is kind of like life. Her head is back and off to the side, but then her behind is stuck out slightly to give us a different message. As like life, we are not able to “settle in” to our lives, but something is always throwing us off. Kind of like good vs evil, or hot vs cold. Here it is light vs dark.
And I really thought about the crop quite a bit. I do have some of her with much larger crops, and I like those too. But the tighter crop comes out and grabs the viewer. The instant “wow” affect. Kind of like a fireworks display and seeing a traffic accident happen right in front of you. You do not really have time to think about your response, as it is a sudden event.
Hopefully this photo has a “wow” factor for you. The model is amazing to work with, and this just reflects a bit on her “sexiness”.

Ordinarily, I wouldn’t be drawn to this sort of shot – not because I have a problem with nudity – quite the opposite in fact. And the high boots, at first blush would seem to reinforce this ‘non-responsiveness’ on my part. And yet, despite this, it very much possesses that WOW factor you mentioned. You said “And I really thought about the crop quite a bit”. Clearly, the result of this thought process was what transformed, for me, the image from one I wouldn’t have an appreciation for beyond its technical expertise, to one I regard as purely and beautifully artistic. I LOVE the harsh shadow on the left, and also appreciate the more subtle overall lighting, perfectly blending away from the locus of the shot, where light is at its strongest. Truly a marvelous hot, and my congratulations.
