Thanks Judi, I really wanted to emphasize a real scenario. Every year horses die by crossing ice lakes and ponds and its always nearly tragic. We occassionally see them on the news. Rescuers trying to save horses from small ponds but hypothermia is usually the culpit and few survive such an ordeal if at all especially for wild horses. In fact just Feb 6 in Kentucky a horse broke ice Link And another Feb 4 in Oklahoma Link

That is so sad … These beautiful and spirited animals are so precious in so many ways which is what I was seeing when I said it was stunning. Now I understand the motive behind the art and it feels heartbreaking to see the ice breaking …
