Today I played my gui-tar
Down where the tourists go.
The songs were sweet,
Out on the street,
Playin’ melodies they all know.
A lady came up to my corner.
She talked about loves gone by.
Her words did speak,
Of a familiar beat,
But I just let out a sigh.
Darlin, sometimes when I miss you,
I can’t get past hello.
Every verse feels the strain,
And my heart feels the pain,
Our love seems so long ago.
Why did we ever break up?
At times I just don’t know.
Sometimes when I miss you
I can’t get past hello.
The tourists like to clap and sing.
Some belt out a song to the moon.
They stop to be nice,
Or to give me advice,
“That last one was a bit out of tune”
At times I enjoy this lifestyle.
Other days I just get too blue.
Some tourists are sweet,
Out on the street,
But others remind me of you.
Darlin, sometimes when I miss you,
I can’t get past hello.
Every verse feels the strain,
And my heart feels the pain,
Our love seems so long ago.
Why did we ever break up?
At times I just don’t know.
Sometimes when I miss you
I can’t get past hello.
As that woman talked on my corner.
She said I played and looked real sweet.
She started to dance,
She was entranced,
By the sounds of the musical beat.
She moved her body toward me.
So I played a little better, ya know.
By the look in her eyes,
I realized,
I knew where she wanted to go.
But darlin, sometimes when I miss you,
I can’t get past hello.
Every verse feels the strain,
And my heart feels the pain,
Our love seems so long ago.
Why did we ever break up?
At times I just don’t know.
Sometimes when I miss you
I can’t get past hello.
Yes, I can’t get past hello.

I thnk many can all relate to this. For me, that’s great poetry, music, etc. We just say enough, and the reader or listener gets wrapped-up filling in all the spaces.
