Get Out!

Anyone who has experience a fire knows the helpless feeling. For residents of the area west of the City of South Lake Tahoe, that feeling hit home on June 24, 2007 when the Angora Fire ravaged the area. The fire burned 3,100 acres destroying 254 residences and 75 commercial structures. Another 35 residences were damaged. The Angora Fire was the inspiration for this piece.

Thank you for the nice comments, Nancy. Yes, the fire was horrible. The aftermath was unreal, almost like visiting another world. But the good news is that the government is using a new aerial planting technique to plant all types of natural trees and shrubs, so the process of regeneration will be aided greatly.

Wow, what a wonderfully powerful image. As a child I was in a fire like this that swept through the island where I lived. It was scary to say the least, and I can still remember the feeling like my world was ending. Lucky we all survived, and just material things were lost. Good job depicting it.

So powerfull and hypnotic. You know you should leave but you foolishly stay. It looks like its night but you know it is day. GET OUT! The title says it all.

Wow! I made a little poem and I didn’t mean to.
    Thanks Ed

Thank you Frank, Don, and Krys. It was a frightening experience just watching the fire and seeing the aftermath. I can’t imagine being IN it. I used to live at Lake Tahoe and still have friends there. Appreciate your comments. Thank you.
