A is for ANIMAL

Imagine a chimpanzee, so like us in so many ways, reaching out to us across that chasm. There is an unspoken question:

Will you acknowledge me as kin?

If you dare look into his eyes and take hold of his hand, he will look back toward the other animal beings and then back to you with a question:

What about them? Don’t they matter too?

Indeed, the great apes are like us in so many ways that they serve as ambassadors for all the wonderful animals with whom we share the planet.

Photography is not about cameras, gadgets and gizmos. Photography is about photographers. A camera didn’t make a great picture any more than a typewriter wrote a great novel.

This is even better!!!! Without wanting to sound like a complete creep – this is one of the best animal portraits I have ever seen. Low key, dramatic, moody – and he looks as if he has many stories to tell. (I think he might be pining for some music to keep him company too — LOL)

  • lol, wow, not creepy at all, just great comment, dear anna ! thank you !
sometimes everything seems to get together perfectly (although it does not happen very often !) : the light was great in both intensity and direction, the subject was still enough time for me to capture it as I wanted, the gigantic clutter around, below, and above him magically disappeared… more please, Big Manitou of Photography !!!
do you have a music in mind ?
    my best, francis.
