Hi, just wanted to explain myself. I am an old Punk…my children….get embarrassed by my stories…that I still listen to hardcore music both old and new. Their friends seem impressed with my record..ops .. CD collection. I do have to get my Cd’s back from both my daughter and my son’s. As I am now a very respectable teacher at a very private (public in UK) school…I teach art. I spent all night listening to Radio Caroline when I was staying in Holland. When I was going to teacher’s college I was the only Punk there..I spent all my weekends in Melbourne at the Ballroom, in St Kilda with my friends watching what we referred to as " The Little Bands" and also lots of the early Australian and overseas Punk and alternative bands. I saw the likes of the Saints, Split ENZ, The Boys Next Door and later Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, INXS, The Clash, POL, The CURE, The Fall, John Cooper Clark to name but a few. I think I was the only trainee teacher amongst the group. I remember a movie Dogs In Space Richard Lowenstein -later being made based on the scene, parties, lifestyle and one of the little bands we saw all the time, as we had friends in the band The Ears…. oh such a long time ago….. Now my 19 yr old daughter is going out with a heavy metal guitarist…..I have yet to be allowed to attend a gig…..they have been touring interstate….but are back again… maybe soon……I will bring the Camera and see if I can add to the site…..Did have some fun in London in the mid 80’s as well but that is another story. Cheers Lesley

Hi Lesley great to see someone else post a biography in the group!
Somewhere in my dusty single collection I have “Stranded” by The Saints, and I’m envious that you got to see them, though I have seen all of the UK groups you mention apart from Punishment Of Luxury… I’m not jealous about you seeing Split Enz, as I though they sucked! Luckily my kids are too young to be embarrassed by me yet!
Cheers

Hey Micky, thanks for your comments…..except for your bad mouthing Split Enz……They were very different and not to many people’s taste…..which is probably why I like them. The Saints were great…Your Kids will be embarrassed soon enough!!! Sorry couldn’t resist! Cheers Lesley

you remind me a lot of my father… he’s the one who introduced me and my brother to punk and he’s also a teacher too
i am old enough to be embarassed by him… he’s always going on about how the bands he liked when he was my age were so much better than the bands i’m into… although i have to disagree… with the notable exceptions of a few bands like the living end, kisschasy, green day, divinyls, blondie and a couple of others

You ear really good music, punk lady!
