Second Gallery Exhibit!
I was really psyched last night to learn that Caged was accepted for a show titled Fear Itself. It will be in October at the Altered Esthetics gallery in Minneapolis. So I’ve been accepted two out of three times I’ve applied for a gallery show! (The other one was a really huge deal . . . can’t remember the name of the place, but they got like 90,000 submissions.) Now I just …
Thank you for purchase
Thank you to the person who recently bought a print of Blossom. I hope you enjoy it!
Mostly out of touch for awhile
We’re dealing with the sudden and rapid decline of my mother-in-law, and I’ll be mostly away from the Bubble over these next days. So please understand if I do not respond to your many lovely comments or catch up with everyone’s work for awhile. I look forward to being able to do so when I can. Meantime, thoughts and prayers would be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Helene
To the Exhibit Closing Party
We’re leaving later this morning to the Cities for the closing party, which will be tomorrow night. I write this at the risk of jinxing myself, since I had gotten so sick that I couldn’t go to the opening early this month :-). This time, knock wood, we really are going. So I’ve been unable to do more than load a couple of paintings over the last couple days because I need to …
Hideous Bad Luck
Yep, that’s right. I couldn’t go. It was unbelievable. A couple hours after I wrote that journal entry about leaving for the exhibit, I suddenly came down with a horrible flu. I went to the doctor, who put me on Tamiflu and told me to quarantine myself for at least 5 days.
I am so incredibly disappointed. I cried in the doc’s office. But at least my painting is there. And, …
Heading Out!
I’m sure there’s lots of cool work I’ve been missing because I’ve spent much of the last couple days getting ready to go to Minneapolis for the exhibit opening. And I won’t be able to check out everyone’s recent work and comment till we get back home after the weekend.
I’ve packed everything except snacks, and I’ve updated my portfolio, just in cas…
First Gallery Exhibit!
Yep, I can’t believe it. I entered an art center’s call for artists thing on a lark about a month or so ago, forgot about it, and then got an email the other night saying they selected my painting Sisyphia and want to exhibit it in their show (which is artworks on myth and folklore)! So on October 3 I will be going to my very first art opening - and going as an artist exhibiting in a…
Second Art Show
This one went pretty well, too. Lots of exposure, compliments, and interest with people stopping at my booth and looking at my paintings while wearing neat expressions. Several went through every print in my browsing box. And I had one sale in which the customer wanted a print in a different size; she paid me at the show, and on Monday I had the print made and sent it to her along with a complime…
First Art Show - Reflection
Well, it was exhausting, but definitely worth it. I turned out to be the only painter there — it was a really tiny show. There was an amazing young illustrator, the rest were craftspeople.
I sold several pieces to friends and one to someone I didn’t really know, whose little girl fell in love with Still at Her Post. Seeing that girl’s excitement when she saw it and told her m…
Any advice on doing art shows??
I am doing my first art show in two weeks, then three more over the summer!!! Does anyone have any advice in general?
I’d also appreciate feedback on how I plan to set up my table (I don’t have a backdrop and can’t afford one yet):
- I will have six frames, ranging in size from 4×6 to 10×13 in which I will put prints of what seem to be my most popular paintings. I’ll also have color copies of a bro
