*Wondrous be this eye machine
I revel at the colors seen
And not just those of red, blue, green
But brightest hues to those serene
These colors do infuse my soul
As world around they do extol
Relinquish thoughts to it’s control
For know my mind it does cajole
Sixteen mil and a bit more
Mixed from just three that are their core
With so much color to explore
I really couldn’t ask for more*
This fractal artwork was inspired by the physiological architecture of the human eye, and how fortunate we are to be able to see the range of the light spectrum that we do. Many other animals are not as fortunate as we are, and have limited or no color vision at all. Our ability to interpret colors the way we do makes us as unique as our opposable thumbs. Color is a wonderful thing!
The original is 3600 × 3600 pixels at 300 pixels per inch. This is actually a fractal made from another fractal. The first base fractal was created in Incendia using a set of texture materials that I created in Photoshop. This fractal was then made into a droste effect fractal using MathMap in Gimp. The background gradient was also created from scratch in Photoshop. I have included a couple of detail cutaways below so you can see the detail. The detail cutaways are at 100% of the original size of the artwork.
