Old Glory
Just three colors but when combined
Speak of a nation, states entwined
It’s people free and not confined
Where all can speak what’s on their mind
These three colors displayed in pride
Are known to all by those worldwide
To symbolize freedom to those denied
Where liberty and justice does reside
As these three colors flap in the breeze
Red, white, and blue on steel trees
Across the nation and the seas
Democracy spread like disease
These three colors are seen as hope
By other nations that can not cope
Like drowning man that’s thrown a rope
A helping hand up slippery slope
This painting was inspired by the resurgence of true democracy during our recent presidential election… a democratic spirit that was so overwhelmingly powerful by the people of America that not even the Bush administration could manipulate our vote this time around. The painting was done from a cropped section of a photo that I took in late spring of 2008.

usually im not a huge fan of the flag, but this picture is simply outstanding!

Thank you, Pamela!... usually I am not either, but the recent turn of events by the people reclaiming their country has instilled a lost and forgotten pride I once had… and it really feels good!
Lisa Weber
you mean this photo?
ArtByDrew replied
Thank you, Lisa… actually it’s a digital painting done from one of my photos, but it is really hard to see the brush strokes over the internet, as the finished image is 4800×6000 pixels at 300 pixels per inch.

,id have to say it doesnt look at all like a painting, perhaps a closeup off to the side would be helpful for us analylitcal ppl to view…lol…
I do that on some of mine as it can be difficult to see up close detail, which can enhance the viewers appreciation of difficulty, and for display purposes.
