This field is one of three fields that were once owned by a single owner. The properties are located in West Knoxville and are/were used for hay production.

The field behind me (as I’m facing the white sign) is now a huge Krogers with other commercial outlets like eateries and such.

The field on the other side of the trees, located behind the white sign, is a hayfield I used for a painting I did back in 2010, entitled, A Little Bit of Country. I painted this acrylic piece because I knew these three fields were on the way out… in the name of commercial expansion.

I removed the real estate’s company name and phone number from the sign… don’t need to give free advertisement, lol!

Greeting Card

As an artist I enjoy painting and photographing segments of rural life. Country living became a new world for me back in the sixties when we moved from Chicago, Illinois to East Tennessee. I want to capture what I now see before country living vanishes… at least in my area!

    Hi Bob.
Nobody likes what is called ‘change’. It’s sad to see it happening so much.
In the heritage village of Maclean where I live there is a push for a supermarket. People power will not stop it from happening.

  • How true… too true… Thanks for the comment on your area Myra. I enjoy reading such things! =);~)

shame that more buildings will be going up…sign of the times Bob…but good to know you have a painting to keep the memory alive…

  • Thanks Linda… Yeah, back in 2010 I figured selling this property would happen, but not so soon. West Knoxville is really expanding so quickly. … much appreciate the visit, thanks again Linda!!!
