Holly and I recently made another pilgrimage to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. We moseyed down to the Donut Friar for our typical visit, enjoying coffee and donuts. As we approached pastry heaven, something seemed slightly different… A NEW SIGN!
While there, we spent a little time getting acquainted with the shop’s owner, a real character, lol! He told us, among other things, that he’s been in business since 1969 in the same location. That’s quite a roll (no pun intended), don’t you think? The placement of a new sign indicates one thing, however… the times, they are a-changin’!
As an artist I enjoy painting and photographing segments of rural life. Country living became a new world for me back in the sixties when we moved from Chicago, Illinois to East Tennessee. I want to capture what I now see before country living vanishes… at least in my area!
