Nashville, Tennessee, will never be the same again after the big flood. Will the city repair and rebuild? Yes it will! Can the country music industry bounce back after such devastation?…most definitely! The show must go on! However, the downtown area along with surrounding communities have suffered a great lose. Homes were destroyed, businesses wiped out. Much of what was, is no more. This capture is a preservation of the past. Yes, I’m looking forward to the new downtown, Nashville; but, I’ll miss the old one. This was one of our (my wife and I) favorite places to visit. We’d stroll down Broadway and briefly visit some the shops like Stages West, music venues like Legends Corner, and restaurants such as Rippy’s Ribs and Bar-Q.
One business, Hatch Show Print, located just past Stages West, had been operating since 1879. Will this company be able to make a comeback? I hope so. My prayers go out to the residents and businesses of this great city. (5.10.10)

As an artist I enjoy painting and photographing segments of rural life. Country living became a new world for me back in the sixties when we moved from Chicago, Illinois to East Tennessee. I want to capture what I now see before country living vanishes… at least in my area!

  • Thank you Mary… this photo, to me, is a collector’s item because the big flood of Nashville changed the landscape of that area. Yes, Nashville is back on its feet… but this is how it looked before that flood. … much appreciate this special feature, thanks bunches!!! Also, congrats to all featured artists!
