The Rice Grist Mill is located in Norris Dam State Park, Lake City, Tennessee. The mill is named after the orignal owner, the Rice Family. The Rices operated the mill from 1798 – 1935 when TVA relocated the mill from its location in Union County to the Norris Dam area. The mill still grinds cornmeal during the summer months. After taking several shots, I toured the mill. Watching the grinding process was quite interesting.

As an artist I enjoy painting and photographing segments of rural life. Country living became a new world for me back in the sixties when we moved from Chicago, Illinois to East Tennessee. I want to capture what I now see before country living vanishes… at least in my area!

Wonderful capture of an old building.

  • Thanks Scott, appreciate the fav. I’m attracted to old things, particularly old buildings. I often muse over what history old buildings hold: what the people were like, the activities that took place there, and so forth.
