I have been a practising visual artist since 1987 and high school art teacher for over 10 years. If I had my ‘drathers’ I would rather create all day everyday, but I’d need a sponsor to do that…do not think thats going to happen, so I’m happy to teach part-time, create when I can.
I am into many media, currently working digitally; illustrating with a blue pencil, exporting with a graphics pad using Photoshop and Painter. I have had a few solos and many shared exhibitions, work figuratively and with themes related to body-identity, femininity and transformation and childhood.
In 2006 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and in 2008 I participated in a joint show called A Bout of Body with two incredibly talented friends where I showed my work based on my enlightening but terrifying journey. One of those friends; Michael Kane Taylor died two years ago of prostate cancer, a terrible disease. I really miss such a talented and wonderful man. In assisting RPH I can at least help a little.
I am part of an online group called Perth Illustrators…and you can see some of the images on this page.
I am currently working towards a Masters of Cross Disciplinary Arts at UNSW, (completing June 2014) where my main projects/themes are based around narratives, symbolic archetypes and body social projections. I will be exploring the use of digitally created decals placed on thin sheets of Keraflex.
I have also started up an Arts movement, in its very early stages called ‘the narrates’..where existing stories and narratives marry with art to speak up about social change and the way we treat others. Please feel free to ask about this.
Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have about my creative journey or relevant themes.
