I have had M.E for 12and1/2years. I went from being an A+ scholarship vet student, national age-group sprorts rep, equestrianne, singer and musician to not being able to walk down the hallway to the bathroom, read even a few lines in a magazine, lift a spoon to feed myself or some days even write my own name.
The physical, cognitive and emotional challenges that have come with the illness are huge, not to mention the unseen secondary hurdles such as the financial burdens, social isolation and lack of understanding from many in the medical world and world at large.
More than a decade on, whilst symptoms wax and wane to some degree, most of my life still revolves around being bedridden and housebound. My prayer, like all of us with M.E, is that we can continue to raise people’s awareness of the reality of this disease and help the likes of the WPI to uncover the answers we so desperately need.
Thank you for your support!!
RE – my art:
I seldom have the energy for much art work and have given away most of what I have done as gifts. When I do get to draw or create my favourite subject is animals, firstly because of my innate love for all creatures great and small but also because I like to draw on their spirits. When I draw birds I’ll be thinking and feeling their freedom, their ability to soar the skies in total freedom; large cats I will draw on their strength; horses, their power and grace.
