am i too open? do we need a 'style'
i have noticed that as a young artist i am still experimenting a lot with different medias, techniques and idea. one day i might be thinking up a new idea for a graphite portrait, the next some crazy idea for a digital piece for a tee, and the next who knows.
what i am concerned with is, do i need style. do i need something similar and solid. a product in order to be successful? a lot of successful internet artists have similar artworks that all seem to be very popular.
do you find my work consistent? or is it too piecey to attain your interest?
just some ideas floating around

It`s funny, someone told me the other day i have my “style” all sorted…Huh?
i like to mix it up all the time or i get bored…and i like looking at different stuff all the time or i also get bored…
some people only want to look at certain stuff…BORING!!!
but if you concentrate on one field..no doubt you`ll get better at it quicker…
Keep experimenting by all means!...you will become a better artist overall…
and don`t forget that it`s supposed to be fun…otherwise why bother??
hmmm? you fink?

I like taking pictures of different things. I am like LostBoy. I get bored with the same old things. I like to mixed it up. You don’t need any one specific style. Experience things. I am still learning, too. Have fun and just be yourself. Do what you like to do.

Some photographers around here can do amazing illustrations (old stuff) but they don`t do it anymore….me i`m learning to draw again…i keep most of my efforts hidden till i get better…also doing some painting (secretly)

hi art4friends, you have a style to your work most definitely…with time most creative people (no matter what medium they choose to work in or cross over into) develop a certain signature style of sorts…but that doesnt mean you cannot be influenced by anothers style so to speak…i like to integrate many styles i love, am influenced & somehow merge into my own. i cross over from hand collage to digital P/S to film photography, did tee design in my early 20’s & sold about a thousand thru markets & on consignment/in a few cool clothing stores…as a freelancer over the last 7yrs i teach p/s, retouch on the side, exhibit when i can…theres no limit to creativity. it is just hard to earn a decent living from it but it can be done!
but do what you love most of all:)

I think you have a style already, I have only really been concentrating on drawing the last year and it’s funny as you practise a style becomes clear, I didn’t think I had one, but now I realize drawing is like handwriting your style is always there :)
keep experimenting and keep up the good work

If you want to have more than just fun creating then style developes over time, it takes
practice, commitment, a deep love for the creative process and a focused search for your own voice.

hi, i stumbled across this and thought i should give some advice. it’s just as everyone else suggested: find your own style by working at your art and doing what you feel comes naturally. maybe you shouldn’t even approach it as trying to find a style, maybe you should just do you and embrace whatever the results are.
i used to want a style but i eventually stopped trying to get it and just allowed myself to create art. whatever comes from these finger tips is what it is. i find that when i try to develop my creations into something, they’re terribly forced. it’s ok to ramble you might find that rambling is your style.
hope you are figuring it out!
