Actually, dog rose or Rosa canina. This image is of another character in a book, also from a Tarot card as the Ace of Wands. I love drawing men because they have such fun muscle definition. Their bodies are like machinery, complex and so visible with the tendons and muscle body. I use dancers for most of my models rather than body builders who look too posed and often give a strange look to pictures. I also love dark skin as well as light. Redheads can have bluish skin or golden skin as well as pink. Darker skinned people are usually not reddish but are gold over violet or olive like this fellow. Naming people black and white, yellow and red is really stupid when we have all these glorious colors and shades.
well i think its true that art improves with intruction, but i also think you have to have the basic talent to put what your taught to use and to make it work. Art is about perseption and how you see what you want to create in your mind,and expressing it in whatever medium your into . your art is wonderful, your very talented.
love what you’ve said about the skin colors… glorious colors and shades, indeed… i used to have the trainers at a local gym come pose for my figure drawing class until i decided that they are too stiff… i can totally see how beautiful male dancers could be as models… love this painting… love all off your paintings…
