I am alone
I sleep alone
I wake alone
I smoke alone
I cook alone
I eat alone
I talk to myself (and answer)
After all, I am alone
I talk to a disembodied voice
from a little box – yet I am alone
I know the voice, but it is more distant every day
I think alone
I breathe alone
I drink alone
I sometimes even get drunk alone
I create art alone
I write alone
I cry alone
I laugh alone
I’ve been so very long alone
I remember when I wasn’t alone
I remember the smells of other people
sharing my space – the sights and sounds
but they are merely distant echoes
because I am alone
I play alone
I cruise the net alone
And then I get to go to work!!!
There, I am not alone
I can see people and actually talk with them
I share ideas with them
I work on issues with them
I help them solve problems
They help me solve problems
We laugh and talk and work
and then I have to go home
where yet again
I am alone

Alas, she’s in Tenessee and I’m in Bethesda – been that way for a year now and probably will be for yet another… But she IS coming up to see me on Friday (oh HAPPY day!!)
Glad you like the poem Vickie – thanks!

blessings upon all of you, my friends. savor each and every moment and squirrel away the memories to hold within your hearts and warm you as the chill of winter draws near. George wrote’ All Things Must Pass’ and the space between is a physical, not emotional space… praise for that for THAT is truly ‘aloneness’ and there may be physical miles between you… but your spirits enfold each other every moment of your being. Treasure that, my friends, for many can only dream of such a state of being. Ever-growing Peace to you all.
Wow Doug! Thanks – you’re so right – we are truly soul mates Beth and I :D Thanks again Doug – and Peace back to you in spades :D
