Many an environmentalist came to Piccolo Rancido, hoping to shed
a little light in a very unenlightened community. They spoke of soft,
fuzzy ducklings in need of clean places to swim. They spoke of sweet,
furry bunnies in need of nice, clean burrows to sleep in. They spoke for
about six days. Then trash removal day came around and they never
spoke again.
The other being a little known tale, which, I believe, has not been
told outside the town of Piccolo Rancido to this very day. For that
matter, it may also have not been told inside the town of Piccolo
Rancido. The reasons for the secrecy:? One can only guess.35
Perhaps there is some truth in both points of view; I cannot say for
certain. But this I can tell you: I find myself willing to believe, at least
in part, a few of the legends I have heard. More than believe! I know
in my heart of hearts that the sword, while being the stuff of which
legends are made is as real as you or I.36 Scoff if you must; I know I
am right. Of course, I also know of a bulletin board where hangs this
sign:

There are those who would claim that this, too, is not but coincidence.37
I guess, it is all in how you wish to view the matter at hand.
Draw your own conclusions as you will, of course. My advice, if you
happen to be one of those who subscribe to such thinking, is to keep
your mouth firmly closed upon encountering anyone in a pawn shop
inquiring about a sword; especially if this anyone has a bit of a burr to
their voice. 38
