And now, a word of warning

Mind you, I still consider Lulu.com a good option. It’s just that I had a tricky, weird thing happen. Well, more than one, but, it all stems from the same basic problem.

You see, it took me some time before I could order a copy of my book, after I was given the ISBN, and I could not approve my book for distribution until then.

After that, I got an email saying that my book was approved for distribution, 6-8 weeks and it would be available on Amazon.com.

Today, I got an email saying that my book was not approved for distribution (Published by Lulu..com) because the size is wrong, etc.

Guess what? They changed their policies as regards which sizes are available "Published by You’ and which are available "Published by Lulu’ sometime after I submitted the book for publishing, but, before I ordered the preview copy and approved it.

This was a size I worked long and hard to fit my book into, because of their prior sizing policies.

Needless to say, I am frustrated. I’ve already went and told people it’s finally for sale, and now I have to reformat the whole bloody thing to fit it into a new size. Which means I shall have to buy another preview copy, and maybe they’ll change the sizing policies while I am trying to scrape up the money for that, eh?

(sigh)

    How frustrating sweetie xxx

  • Yep! But, not the end of the world. At worst, it means resizing and re-ordering, and waiting for longer before making announcements to people. It’s mainly, the frustration, that i thought I was done and free to move onto the next thing .. bleh!

    I would curse out loud… but that’s just me…

  • …. I can’t remember if I did or not, but, probably a little, right at first. I am trying not to curse at all, but, somethings really seem to bring it right out again! And thank you very much for understanding.

I have heard nothing but GLOWING REPORTS ON THIS COMPNY
Really sorry to hear Lulu screwed up BUMMER ( ’ – (( Good Luck on the Next round.

By the way have you still got the extra kids? Or where they finally retrieved?

  • Hey, thank you! I shall look into that glowing company .. or .. you know what I mean!

The kids were finally picked up. Since then, i’ve been trying to figure out who broke the handle and/or bent the blade of my butcher knife, from my newest set of knives, which I had specifically forbidden anyone to play with or take from the kitchen. I found it on the back porch, abused, alone, and frightened; well, such as knives get, anyway lol

Hmmmm not my favourite people at the moment. 3 months ago I ordered 16 copies of my calendar (it was before RB had public calendars) and the delivery was $17. Now when I order 16 copies of my calendar the delivery is quoted as $189 for the same delivery method.

I know the ecconomy is having problems but I really dont think postage has gone up 1000%. They currently have no answer at all.

For books, I’m now looking at BLURB.com because I dont think I can trust LULU. Check out BLURB…..

  • Wow! That’s got to be wrong. I could see that as the total price, but, not the delivery price Weird!

Yeah, Lulu seems to have gone a bit weird, lately. I know they’ve been changing policies and such, but, it’s gotten to be a bit much for me. I may leave my stuff there as downloads, because I’ve published 4 books with them, all the way, and I’ve had a very weird problem with each one. Some of them were possibly my fault, but this last one isn’t.

It still works nicely for other people, though. (sigh)

Thank you for the advice, shall look into it.

Oh, added to that, my calendar on LULU was actually costing (without delivery) AUD22. RedBubble’s calendars cost me $20 – and they’re heaps better.

Then there’s delivery. For 16 calendars I get free delivery from RedBubble. Now that rocks!
