The Big Idea by

There is, or was, a show called The Big Ballet that featured less than (more than?) slim persons. I have not seen it, only pictures from it, but I like the idea.

So, here is a piece inspired by the photos from the show. Consider it an homage to individuality.

Thank you, Ma’am. Well, I’d never call her thin, but she isn’t so outrageously overweight that I wouldn’t call her normal sized, either. If she’s doing ballet, she’s obviously got some muscle on her, so she’ll probably do! lol

oh gorgeous lively art ;} hugzz

  • Thank you! I’d love to see the ballet, for real instead of just bits and photos on the internet. Of course, I’d love to see any ballet, as I haven’t yet.

this is such a happy picture :-)

  • Yeah, it is! Thank you for noticing. I just read something today, in a book by Ngaio Marsh, that reminded me of this digital paintng and the Big Ballet, etc. I think the name of the book is ‘Spinsters in Peril’ but I am probably wrong. At any rate, one of the characters says something like “To be overweight is not to be inactive.” It’s funny how many people think it is that. I used to kick my bf’s butt when we’d run, even though he exercised all the time and took special supplements and etc. and there I was overweight and chronically ill. Neither one necessarily means weak or incapable.

    Enough preaching.

    Thank you! Enjoy your happiness!
