Slice of Ordinary Me 4 Tee

All in Editing Group:

I submit this on the basis of it originally being a painting on actual canvas, which was then scanned, cropped, resized and added to a t-shirt .. so .. definitely edited, and for specific purpose.

One day, if and when I return (yes, I really am going! lol), and by that I mean “If God is willing”, not that I am planning on not returning, I shall try to remember to put all the right sort of links up for this piece. Until then, enjoy!

If you desire another color of t-shirt, let me know and I’ll be glad to help you out by temporarily adding that other color on.

More group weirdness. This and two other pieces were rejected by the All Orange Group for failing to meet their guidelines; their guidelines being that the pieces must be 80 percent orange or that orange must dominate the piece with one other color included. Right? Waiting to hear what they have to say for themselves, now, vis a vis this email to them:

Hello,

I am writing this email to both of the co-hosts of the All Things Orange group, at once. I would like to know why it was decided that ‘Slice of Ordinary Me 12 06 2008’ and the ‘Slice of Ordinary Me 4 Tee’ were rejected.

I can see your point with the other one, from the same painting, as, unfortunately, it does not show up as being nearly as orange on the computer as it does in real life. It is over 80 percent orange, though, because the entire background is orange and every single aspect of it shines through with an orange tint, or is a pure orange. However, I shall not ask you about that one.

The other too are varying shades of orange, but are well over 80 percent orange. They are almost completely orange in fact, except for the black outlines and mild touches of green and blue. On top of that, one of them is a design on an orange t-shirt, which has only been submitted to exist on an orange t-shirt, for the purposes of being included in the All Things Orange group.

These two are yellow-orange, red-orange, hot orange, bright orange, and super light almost white orange.

So, why were they rejected, please, because they do fit the groups guidelines and so I do not accept that they do not as the answer for their rejection; and I am very tired of being rejected by groups and given excuses that do not fit the situation.

Thank you very much for your time.

I love how you show the outline of the woman’s breast but still manage to cover it artfully. It reminds me of the ill attempt that Janet Jackson tried at a football halftime show. The actual Superbowl if memory serves me correctly. She had the little star on her boobie and it popped off, or so she claimed. GREAT PIECE!!! I like it a lot! And to boot, it’s tasteful. If I wasn’t such a broke artist I’d buy it and wear it. I LOVE unconventional pieces…lol…hence the name of the group.

  • Arletta replied

Thank you very much! I know the feeling (about being broke). I wouldn’t have thought twice about her popping out a strategically decorated breast, if she had just admitted it was on purpose- or even half on purpose (oh, we only meant to show half the pastie, not all of it, sorry!) but to completely deny they meant to do it was just silly. And, it’s pretty silly to demand g-rated performances at an event where men may die, too, I think. If you don’t want your kids traumatized, don’t le them watch football, and don’t complain about a scantily clad breast if you are going to let them watch half-time shows at all, because there are strippers … err. . cheerleaders, all over the place, who wear less than your average hooker does…. I say to people who complained.

Yeah, I’d prefer Janet Jackson’s breasts stay out of my life; but, I know they exist, and I have seen the family in action, so, outside of M.J. growing a nose and being accused of having sex with a woman who is near his own age, little they do shall surprise me.

They managed to make unconventional the conventional aspect of their life, you realize? Wow!

ANyway, mostly I am rambling, so I shall stop. Thank you, some more.

I suggest you point out the T to someone who is not a broke artist and demand it as a present lol

Hey Arletta, Ramble away!! I call them my rants and raves that mostly only make sense to myself!! LOL I totally agree with the ridiculous idea of G rated football! WHAT A JOKE!!! You know what I WOULD love to see at a pro football game? A BAND!!! A MARCHING BAND THAT IS THAT TEAMS” OWN BAND!!! That would be so MUCH better than hookers(cheerleaders…what a laugh!! I was a cheerleader once, and we had NO desire to show our bits and pieces…but I was also in the band so I guess I am biased) I ALSO would like to see a singer sing the National Anthem without trying to make it updated and hip! It’s like a Hymn and should be done the traditional way!!!(Of course I sang the National Anthem in high school and loved it when people told me I did it the way they liked it…traditional! LOL I guess I did a lot of school groupie things! hehe) Anyways, I LOVE YOUR PIECE!! It has the air of naughtiness but still makes it seem decent. Well I am expecting CASH for the Holidays so I can go shopping! If I get cash your tee is the FIRST place I am stopping at to pick up!!
Happy Holidays and Great Piece! It’s why I featured it in Unconventional Artistry!

  • Arletta replied

Oh, that was you. Well, thank you very much. I knew someone did it, but, not who to thank personally. Haven’t been on much, so it’s a total fluke that i happened to log on just shortly after it happened. At least, the notice said it was just shortly after

I like marching bands, a lot. It was while watching a movie about a smart-alec boy in a marching band – I can’t remember the name or the stars, just that it had a lot of black people and the lead guy was very cute, but not as cute as his nerdy friend – that I got especially annoyed about cheerleaders. Because I thought the movie went overboard and all the cheerleaders were one missing g-string away from being nude pole dancers. Then I realized that they were actually rather sedate compared to some of the things I saw real college team cheerleaders getting up to, later that same year. That was before the whole Janet Jackson thing.

Also, I agree with you about the National Anthem. I am not nationalistic, and I would not go out and sing it myself because of that, but, I do understand about having respect for traditions and respect for the artist. A song should be sung as it is meant to be sung, any song should be that is. I can stand some remakes that do really remake a song, but, mostly, no, they are just wrong and pointless. “Life on Mars’ as Techno, for instance, is, in my books, a good excuse for David Bowie committing manslaughter. “I’m sorry, your Honor, ” he could say., “for killing the woman, but, in my defence (because he’s British), please listen to the remake.” Then he’d be released, charges just dropped completely, as it was very obviously self defense ( because the judge is American); and, two or three entire countries would come to his aid during the civil case.

Okay, maybe not, but.. even more especially, one should not mess with certain songs.such as anyone’s religious song, national anthem, or songs like Green Sleeves that are boo-coo hundreds of years old and perfect as is. Though, I have to say, Jimmy Hendrix did it fabulously, when he played the national anthem on his guitar. But, he didn’t really change it except that it was played on guitar. He was honoring it by making it a part of his art, or vice versa. . and that would be like a painter painting it, or etc. If a singer wishes to honor it, they should just sing it, and sing it right!

Also, a big load of thank yous!
