All She Could do was Watch

In the black lakes of sadness
He cried
For the pain
For those that didn’t, couldn’t cry
For the utter shame

And when the sobbing stopped
He wept in his rock bottom dreams
Scraping his septic barrels
His pooling souls

She knew that gash
The one that infected seeped
And starving roared
Fangs on screeching steel
Taking no healing, no balm
No Christ

Her hand smelt of it
On him
On his skin
And all she could do was watch

    how beautifully worded, how sad,
In the black lakes of sadness
    He cried
    For the pain
For those that didn’t, couldn’t cry
    For the utter shame.
I will cry along with him, for them.
