A Special Kind of Love

When you are alone
What makes you think
You need his company?

He slices open your facade
Peeling it away
Like an over sun-ripe pear

And finds seeds, fallacies and
An odour to kill for
Which enfold and feed your deep set heart

Why is it you that you want
Him
To sharpen his blades on
To whetten his lips for

In your caves he carried a fire
And your willing breath
Waits, sweetly charred for his use

Its time
And you sit
Pensive and moist
For the company
Of a special kind of love

For the bloodied mouth of eternally angry men

A Special Kind of Love
