The Girl on the Train

She caught me looking
At her
So quickly I shifted my gaze 5 degrees
To the left
And found myself looking straight out the train window
Breathe

Yet her heat drew me
Dept of field adjustment and there she was again
Reflected in the glass
And my courage kept me watching

She had black curls
Which tumbled like ivy across her brow, over her
Red flushed cheeks
Down her face
Across her shoulders
Then stopping short
At her hand
Resting delicately
Across her light unbuttoned breast

But that was not the pull
Not at all
It was her heart I saw
Heard
Beating pushing
Throbbing soft and heated
Against her long ivory fingers
While her other hand
Held bone tight
The ledge which formed
The lip which supported
The base of the now rattling train window

She shifted
And looking up
Gazed directly and calmly straight between my widened eyes
