Pulse

He wandered himself
Thick into that never too deep night
Black with seduction
Tantamount to temptation
Cloaking himself in the rhythm of an invisible hope

Those little pink, blue, heart shaped pills
Can’t help themselves
They are fuel made flesh
Desire made a lover
And soft warm leather

With pre-dawn warnings of an exposé
He treks the thin grey dawn block home
But he knows the Catholics are massing
And their drums are rumbling over the bridge
To plunge Jesus
Riding a tumultuous youth’s truth
Into the city

His pulse
Stable on any other ordinary morning
Is genuinely tempted
To ask the homeless bearded man
Propped
On his approaching door step

For forgiveness

Pulse

Artist's Description

It’s (Catholic) World Youth Day in Sydney and the city has an amazing buzz to it. The city of Sin (as some people call it) is in an interesting position.
