His new scandalised self
This shot evolved into something I really like – with potential multiple interpretations.
The idea was to comment on those being oppressed to becoming becoming oppressors – from marginal to mainstream, from radical to conservative. Recent history of the gay and lesbian liberation movement has resulted in new generation ‘queers’. This shot shows new scandal by the ‘old’ scandlised.

Karen Cougan
Classic Robert, made an impact already, I like how you left it untitled, it has its own title when you open it. LOL

Kitsmumma
hahahahaha!!!!
Robert Knapman
Gosh that was quick. Yay. So quick had no time to title it even. I can delete the title but I think I like it :P Thanks…cheers all.

Robert Knapman

Paul Fleming
That’s bloody awesome! I’m with Karen though – I think it works well without the added title, though that’s just an idea.
Robert Knapman
Thanks Paul. Maybe I’ll delete it then. Out of curiosity – What message do you get from it without a title?
Paul Fleming
Well, kinda hard to expain, but I’ll try! I guess I see his expression and his peering/voyeristic gaze as contrasted against the exclamation on his shirt. his expression to me is like some old conservative hag spying on the new neighbours “Oh Beryl, have you seen what is moving in next door…”. It’s like this guy is saving the old hag the trouble of reacting – he’s got the label out there and the reaction to go with it… Of course, I’m seeing the image through the eyes of well and truly ‘out’ guy, so I’d be interested to see how others might interpret things. Hopefully my interpretation made sense, too!
Robert Knapman
Yessiree it did. I like it too. Title is dust binned :) My take on it is multi fold – the scandal has moved on or evolved / the scandalised are now scandalising / pointing fingers never felt so good / the luxury and relief of moving past secrets and scandal but … can a new conservatism justify its shock at the existing world? Your take fits beautifully here too. I wonder what others see?
Paul Fleming
I like all your takes on it, particularly the scandalised are now scandalising, along with the pointing fingers never felt so good :) Hopefully some other people will share what they see.
mayuphoto
I like this very much! Will add to my favorite for sure : D
Damian
Funny stuff Robert :)
I liked the mix of interpretations that have happened. It almost felt like reading his thoughts in subtitles when I first looked at it, but I really liked ‘the scandalised are now scandalising’ too lol!
plvcards
Hmmmm humour and sexuality! What an interesting mix! Nice one Robert! :D
Marilyn Brown
This looks like so much fun!
Must have been your reaction when you saw that fallen orchid!
Kitsmumma
Scandal is gossip made tedious by morality…...............Oscar Wilde
Kitsmumma
PS – you look much younger than I had imagined you to be! :D
Danny
You’ve done it again
It’s almost… no it IS.. a real life cartoon caption
Brilliant
Robert Knapman
Thanks folks. Very cool to come home to interesting comments. Cheers. It was a hoot to make this shot. Ahh had not considered the caption or subtitle idea at all – love it. Sylvia, I am not as young as I was and yet younger than I will be ,) Looks have, are and always will be deceiving – especially with photography (the ultimate complimenter) try over 40 and less than 50 :) In my heart?...literally anyone’s guess. These days I tend to forget how old I am – recently celebrated being one age then realized I was another – oh well :)
Mel Brackstone
Well all I can say is you look good for over 40 and under 50! And I had to come back to read what everyone was saying, this is a very appealing shot, for many reasons. Love Sylvia’s Oscar Wilde quote too!
Robert Knapman
Thanks Mel. Yep…a classic quote by a class act :)
bodymechanic

Heather Meadows

Robert Knapman
Thanks folk. Thats scary – a hybrid of Dorrie, Mrs Mangles and Mrs Krabbitz – eek :) Tamarama I dont think people know what to think or do most of the time, and by the time they have thought I am well gone. Parties are more likely and fun though if I am in the mood :) Thanks Heather.

Robert Knapman
Thanks people. Nothing like a bit of quirk to get the blood moving. LMHO yup – its also very erectus to be homo these days Chris ;) Jessica – did you use the right end of the wand? :)))))
Paul Fleming
“more smiles are just a card away…” cheeky bugger aren’t you! Very true tho.
